Heritage Officer Wicklow County Council, Local Authority Heritage Officiers

Deirdre works for Wicklow County Council, and is one of twenty eight Heritage Officers employed by local authorities across Ireland. Heritage Officers work to strengthen policy and decision making within the local authority in relation to natural and built heritage, and to provide advice and guidance for the wider community. Deirdre co-ordinates a programme of work in Wicklow through the County Heritage and Biodiversity Plans that in recent years has included, amongst other things, the production of a County Wetlands Map, habitat surveys, as well as promotional material on biodiversity, the coastline and individual wetland sites in Wicklow.
