Join us on Feb 2nd as we celebrate “World Wetlands Day”.
The Ballinahown Community Group will kindly host a number of speakers and artists this coming Sunday, February 2nd, from 10am to 12pm in their community hall (N37 D768).
Cathal Flood from the Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO) will speak about water quality and the importance of wetlands in the midlands.
Our Senior Project Manager, Owen Murphy, will discuss the Breeding Waders EIP project, various species and the importance of wetlands for their survival.
Helen Conneely will take us through the measures Ballinahown Community Development are taking to preserve wetlands in their area.
Poet Jackie Gorman will share some of her beautiful poetry, including Crotach(Curlew).
The impressive artworks from Athlone Landscape Artist Leila Henry will be on display. This is a free event supported by LAWPRO with refreshments provided on site, and no pre registration is required.
