On February 2nd at 10:00, the Irish Peatland Conservation Council are running a Scrub Removal Event, on Lodge Bog, near the Bog of Allen Nature Centre.
Peatlands contain 90% water and offer our communities many services from flood mitigation, a haven for biodiversity, carbon storage and recreation.
Celebrating World Wetlands Day 2nd February; come along and join us for a morning of action for wetlands. Scrub encroachment at the edges of bogs both limits water accessing the surface and shades the bog surface limiting growth of bog plants. Come help with scrub clearance!
Please note: Strong footwear such as wellies, and warm clothes are recommended. The IPCC team will provide equipment.
Registration is essential – email bogs@ipcc.ie
